Calculating Daniel's 70 Weeks

Select a start date for calculating the 70 weeks. If the year selected occurs in the Cyrus era (6th century BC), the day and month are ignored, and the first section of 7 weeks will be calculated as leap years, or years having 13 months in the Hebrew and Babylonian calendars. There are 7 of these leap years in a span of 19 years, a period that became known as a Metonic cycle. 19 years was a "week" of leap years. The second section of the 70 weeks is calculated as 62 weeks of 7 years, including both regular years and leap years. The end of the second section of the 70 weeks should point to the time of the appearance of Christ, when he began his ministry.
